The State Government, through the Secretariat for Agricultural and Fisheries Development, opens, this Sunday (18), the 49th edition of the Expofeira Paraíba Agronegócios 2016, in João Pessoa. The exhibition runs until September 25th and is expected to attract 15 thousand people. This year's focus is on encouraging rural entrepreneurship and innovation in the countryside. A goal that is reflected in the programming and partners linked to the event, Banco do Nordeste, Senar Paraíba and Sebrae, who will provide services to the public with training and lectures on the occasion. Consulting and agricultural products companies, as well as resellers and concessionaires will also be present.
The event will take place at the Henrique Vieira de Melo Exhibition Park, in the Cristo Redentor neighborhood. During the eight days, the park is expected to welcome 1,700 animals of various breeds and Brazilian states, including goats, sheep, cattle and dogs.
“The State Government is committed to the agricultural fair because this is a sector responsible for around 30% of Paraíba's GDP throughout the entire chain. In this number, we add not only production in the field, but also the sale of inputs, vehicles, tractors and all services directly linked to the rural environment”, explains secretary Rômulo Montenegro.
Also according to the secretary, the expectation for 2016 is to surpass R$ 10 million in business from the previous year. To reach the goal, the event also has three auctions between the 22nd and 24th of September. The first will be goats and sheep, promoted by the Paraibana Association of Goat and Sheep Breeders (Apacco). On the 23rd, it will be the turn of the Sindi Cattle Auction – Pompeu Borba. Finally, the Paraibana Agricultural Research Corporation (Emepa) closes the program with an auction of Gir, Guzerá and Sindi cattle. An increase compared to 2015, the year in which the event resumed, when there was only one auction.
For the president of the Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of Paraíba (Faepa-PB), Mário Borba, this is an opportunity to show society the importance of the sector. “Brazil was once dependent on imports of meat, coffee and other items and today it is one of the main exporters in the world, a breadbasket. We are also part of this. Paraíba has an excellent genetic potential for goat, cattle and sheep breeds and these auctions will show this”, he said.
The event will have free entry and aims to reach the general population, as well as rural producers and workers, to strengthen and publicize the importance of the agricultural sector in Paraíba. For this niche, some attractions are the food and crafts court, which will also serve as a stage for a diverse cultural program. For the opening of the event, on the 18th, six attractions have already been confirmed, including musical, folk and theatrical groups.
Programming – During Paraíba Agronegócios 2016, there will be the IV National Dairy Goat Exhibition, which will take place over the eight days of the event, in addition to the IV Northeast Mangalarga Marchador Horse Championship, between the 22nd and 24th of September. Paraíba Agronegócios 2016 will also host the III Paraíba Cup – Agility Dog Competition, whose presentations begin on September 18th.
The National Rural Learning Service of Paraíba will offer lectures on beekeeping, artificial insemination of cattle and soil management. In addition to guidance on the Negócio Certo Rural program. Among the activities proposed by Sebrae are lectures on Rural Credit, cooperativism and the use of software in the management of dairy properties.
