Representatives from nine Latin American, European and Asian countries learned, this Thursday (11/23), details about sustainable grain production in Goiás. The Secretary of State for Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, Pedro Leonardo Rezende, accompanied the group visiting Jataí, in the southwest of Goiás, and presented an overview of agribusiness in Goiás. He emphasized the actions of the Government of Goiás to encourage environmentally friendly practices, such as the use of biological inputs. Members of the diplomatic missions of Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, Philippines, France, Hungary, Italy and Portugal also visited the Solubio bioinputs factory, a company that is a reference on the topic.
In his presentation, Rezende highlighted the results that Goiás agribusiness has achieved and made special mention of the diversification of agricultural production in the Jataí region. He also cited the benefits of the production and use of bio-inputs, remembering that Goiás was the first Brazilian state to establish a specific program on the topic. “Bio-inputs are fundamental to providing sustainability to production systems, reducing costs and mainly reducing dependence on chemical-based products, many of which are imported and subject to fluctuations in the international market,” he said.
The secretary also listed the segments in which Goiás agribusiness stands out nationally and highlighted the potential for expanding agricultural production in the State. “Goiás can even double its agricultural area just by converting degraded passages, without the need to open any new permanent protection area. This is a feature that few states have. And this has already occurred, mainly in the Vale do Araguaia, North and Northeast regions. We have observed a gradual replacement of degraded pasture areas by agricultural areas”, he stated.
Reception highlights advances in sustainable agriculture and technological innovation with bioinputs
The mayor of Jataí, Humberto Machado, participated in the reception for ambassadors and advisors from the nine diplomatic representations. He welcomed the visitors. “We are a country with evolved agriculture, achieving world-class productivity. We are, similarly, now attacking bio-inputs, which are hope for humanity”, he said.
On behalf of the foreign representatives, Delphin Jamme, Economic Development agent at the French Embassy in Brazil, previously expressed gratitude for the receptivity. He also shared his positive impression of what he witnessed. “What we saw here was a very good example of sustainability and innovation. There is nothing like this in France, so for us it is phenomenal to see this here”, he declared.
Also participating in the visit were: Joseph Gerard B. Angeles (Ambassador of the Philippines); Stanley Gomes (counsellor at the Canadian Embassy); Joana Leal (agricultural counselor at the Portuguese Embassy); Norman Lizano Ortiz (Ambassador of Costa Rica); Cristian Rondán (advisor) and Javier Dufourquet (agricultural attaché at the Argentine Embassy); Geert Van Dessel (first secretary at the Belgian Embassy), Gianluca Cicchiello (first secretary at the Italian Embassy), Gabriella Mándy (commercial and economic attaché and first secretary at the Hungarian Embassy).
Felipe Baptista (COO), Luiz André Diaz Bacelo (commercial director) and Leandro Colognese (co-founder and Industrial director) represented Solubio's management. Rafaela Vendruscolo (ESG manager) and Paulo Roberto do Santos (commercial director) were also present. Just like Dagon Ribeiro (CEO Biotechland).
