Ukrainian grain traders union UGA raised its forecast for Ukraine's combined grain and oilseed harvest by almost eight million tonnes to 76.8 million tonnes.
The harvest will likely include 26.9 million tons of corn, 20.2 million tons of wheat, 5.2 million tons of barley, 13.9 million tons of sunflower seeds, 3.9 million tons of rapeseed and 4.8 million tons of soybeans, UGA said this Thursday in a statement.

“The increase in this year’s crop forecast is due to favorable weather conditions and higher-than-expected crop yields, although the planted area is 2.2 million hectares smaller than last year,” the UGA said.
The UGA said it saw Ukrainian grain and oilseed exports at 48 million tonnes in the July-June 2023/24 season, compared to 58 million tonnes in 2022/23.
Wheat exports could total 15 million tonnes in 2023/24, compared with 16.8 million in 2022/23, and Ukrainian corn shipments could fall to 22 million tonnes from 29.5 million, it said.
“UGA emphasizes that, in general, grain and oilseed exports in the new 2023/2024 season can remain at the specified level if Ukraine can export through its Black Sea ports, as well as if the logistics of alternative routes, including the Danube route, become better and cheaper”, he stated.
Russia left a Black Sea export deal on July 17 after saying its demands to reduce sanctions on Russian grain and fertilizer exports had not been met. Moscow also complained that not enough grain was reaching poor countries.
Russia also attacked Ukraine's main inland port on the Danube River on Wednesday, raising global food prices by increasing the use of force to stop Ukraine from exporting grain.
