The Kremlin said today (5) that it has not made a final decision on expanding the Black Sea grain agreement. “We have not officially announced the decision yet, we will announce it in due course,” said spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
Over the past few weeks, Russia has reiterated that it does not intend to renew the initiative that makes Ukrainian exports via the Black Sea viable after June 17, the date on which it expires, with the justification that its shipments of products and agricultural inputs have been harmed. due to what it calls “obstacles” imposed by the West – despite its commodities and fertilizers not being subject to direct sanctions, as they are considered essential for global food security.

“There is still time to fulfill that part of the agreements that concerns our country. So far, this part has not been completed and therefore at this moment, unfortunately, there are no particular reasons to extend this agreement,” Peskov highlighted.
