In the first two months of 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) authorized another 90 companies to export corn to China. Brazil's corn exports continue to rise in 2023 and gain great momentum with sales of the cereal to China. According to data from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC), in January this year, Brazilian corn exports rose 167% compared to the same month last year, with the Asian country absorbing 15% of Brazilian supply. Until last year, the biggest buyers of corn from Brazil were Iran, Japan, Spain and Egypt.

Mapa registers Brazilian companies that meet the requirements determined by China for corn exports. After registration in Brazil, the Ministry sends the list of qualified companies to the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) and following confirmation by the Chinese side, the companies can ship the grain to that country.
